What a President Must Have!

In short, we better have a President with compassion! I don’t want a businessman as President if he can not feel the pain of the little guy and those in need. I just don’t!

In a study – a nonpartisan study – the Tax Policy Center says that the Romney tax plan would end up costing middle class tax payers more money.

“Millionaires would get an $87,000 tax cut, the study says. But for 95 percent of the population, taxes would go up by about 1.2 percent, an average of $500 a year.” [Washington Post, 2 August 2012]

Romney is kicking around the English language with little concern. He carelessly says things entirely intended to get votes, with little concern about the long-range effect of his comments. He fails to answer questions when answers will say too much about the long-range impact of his policies. He won’t reveal and release his income tax payments over the last ten years.

We are promised that Romney was an incredible businessman. The experienced among us know that this is no guaranty that he will be a good President. What kind of compassion does he have for the poor among us? Is America a country that looks away from weakness and failure and punishes it as if it were a crime?

I want a President who cares – who cares deeply – for the plight of all our nation’s people!

Addendum
Read this column by Fareed Zakaria on Mitt Romney’s cultural ignorance! Zakaria is viewed as very objective and non-partisan. There are some brilliant observations here about how much culture plays a part in a nation’s economic success.
